Welcome to the ship where everyone, and welcome to the latest edition in the room around up. One had his first birthday yesterday, so happy birthday on. Trust me, your dad is guiding you on the right football and past kids, so make sure you listen to him. Welcome guys. So on we go. As I say on every podcast, rumors or rumors, belief. Often, and more importantly, Bet Norton until you satisfy yourself you're doing the right thing. Now I'm sure there are a few punters who have lumped heavy on the Eddie high over the last five or six days of the boogeast, thinking it was a certainty, but just might be having second thoughts about it now. Are they right to be worried or is it in the bank? Well, we'll come on to that shortly. Don Mackay, as we all know, is coming on Monday in nineteen to be a brol. He's going to work along with Peter Lowell until the first of July when he takes over the the CEO role and the manager's position. Well, is it Eddie high or whoever? You know, a lot of fans are Eri tether, aren't they? You know, some say it's not going to happen. Others think he's written on a better offer from down south. Plenty believe he wants his own director of football and I've heard some say it's because it's family don't want to come to Scotland, among other stories. Not least the one that Crystal Palace have allegedly thrown there, having died the ring for his services in the last couple of days. So all you guys that are listening, think about this. Would Eddy high bees better suited to you southe London and he would be to Glasgow. What he feel more comfortable at a club that thinks survival in the league is as good as actually winning something? Other journalists and pundits are suggesting that the day will happen with high and all they're really doing is both sides are simply taking their diamond making sure of be each other a clear understanding of the way it's going to work. So by all means, keep an eye on the media headlines, but don't be getting carried away with them. Now, to add further fuel to the vacant managerial far, on other voice has been mega noise today, but Eddie High and that is our old friend Frank mcavenny. Now, frank's controversial at times. We all know that. But excuse me, he says he has been told that the problem is Richard Hughes. It's not the Celtic don't want hues. It's more a case of Eddie high does want them, but Hughes himself is reluctant to bring his children up to live in Glasgow. We hear all these stories and every story that we hear, guys, please remember that Celtic Football Club didn't write any of them. Now some fans will say, well, it's about time Celtic did come out with the story about what they're doing. So here's something for you all to think about. Should the club stick with their plan to get any high, no matter how long it takes, or should they move on? Is Roy Keynes name going to come back into the frame again, or the previous runners in the risk perfect their ears and getting ready to show their hand? Or is it all much to do but nothing, and Eddie high is actually coming? So let us know what you think. You're among friends case, get the thoughts off your chest...

...and moving on the player rumors, not really much happening there. Obviously, was said before. Celtic or unlikely to buy any players until a new managers confirmed. However, one story that has popped up suggests that if it is Eddie High, then his first call will be to Carlo Lanceloti at Everton about getting Josh King as a replacement for alson Edward, who we most. Most of US expect to move on in the summer and there's something happens now and all furnace. I don't think that's going to happen, even if I does come in. King's wages at Everton are reported to be significantly higher than any any of the poppers. So here's a question. In future and if we really do want to make an impact in Europe, should we be prepared as a club to pay higher way to do them? We already do if it means we're getting higher quality players. Could we afford to do it? Gives your thoughts and that on those questions. Guys and them that popped up just a couple of days ago. If you remember when they lennon was still in charge, which seems like an eternity a go now, but just a short number of weeks ago young Josh Dey go atheads. Celtic were reported to be interested in that. Now we don't know if there was any real mileage and that, but apparently lester have no shown an interest in him. But a player who is on our books, I'm could make an impact on the squad as long as young Leo yelled. Now you don't Yeld. He's the seventeen year old Norwegian defender who we signed from Rosenborg last year and he has been alone at Ross County since January. It's plenty of games for them. Scored his first senior goal. But however, he's reported to be interesting. Mr Hassan hoodled down at side Hampton. Now Big Yoki use at the STAGGI's ripped the youngster very highly and he reckons that the lad won't be too far away from Celtics first team when he does return to parkhead. And moving on a Lee Griffiths. We was mentioned on the forum and even on the last podcast market mentioned it that his contract is going to finish at the end of the season, with Celtic having a one year option. But if the want to exercise that they must do it for the vehicles. So that's three weeks away from ny now Chris Divides opinion among fans. So here's a question. Should the club take up the option for another season or should we say goodbye? Talk to us let us know how you feel about Griffstown or gone. Has He blown as chances or can you redeem on cells next season? If he stays on the rumors. The last mention goes to Jack Henry. It's always reassuring, weep when you can get a comment direct from a player instead of a socalled reliable source. Henry is confirmed himself, that is agent and who stand or trying to get the deal completed with Celtic. Now, remember we have no negotiating part in this day, apart from perhaps how the money is paid, and we can't interest study comes back. The price was set before he went alone the Belgian side. So it looks like he's going to be away very soon. So, in hindsight, was this? It was this day. Look mistake by Celtic. Did we ship Jack Henry out too early? So let us know what you think about his exit. And as far as Weis concerned, that's less it's for now. There's no doubt stories will regular. We are but in the meantime it's back to Paul. So it does have hood are from W I am seven that any hows what waiting for, as long he's not more suppoat. This kind of two things to put down real easy. Waiting for Crystal Palace on Newcastle to actually come in for him. Well, I though, is wait for is you way fun off of fun them, like, you know, to see what he's got options are. I think the story is that, you know, we not look, at the end of the days, agent wouldn't be doing this job properly he wasn't keeping them aware of any options that might become all. Yeah, course, cause you know, we don't know for sure whether Newcastle or Crystal Palace genuinely and sincerely and officially have made an approach for him. But look, the bottom line is until he signed up and we see him at Cell Dig Park, then there's always going to be the possibility that another club could make a move. So we just have to wait and see what happens from that. So has it been the put us so like had? Has Celtic actually push a contract to Eddie whole and he's way to make that decision liberty? Or really do they? I mean again, it's so spe shouldn't. Yeah, we actually don't know what's going on. If we don't know if sending actually did put enough for to d up, we can take as fact that Desmond Medea Ho who else? We don't know who else is in me, because I had noticing down that he's a sist. He's a negotiations after our level. I don't understand. I couldn't gotiate a contract for a football manager got the tune and throwing and and take. Isisy with the Muskny in dcl when he's contracts. I don't think dye, who was stolen anybody as the dam basement once he's quite entitled to take his team and speak to his...

...family, not about it. A lot of fans its Celtic to noon say who we need start on Monday morning and things like that. Yeah, it was now only harm never going to happen. The watcher the role be. Other teams are interesting. How does need to do about that? We've got to put the watch her kids. That clause him at the water. No, financially, but in football the terms as Salem, the points of God come but went off. He's we sealed. He'll not to prove yourself for Europe and you'll go yeah, I joke that England the crystal Polish and for food your stay. I think certainly someone like addy high guys, it's worth burn and mine that he's not witting on a fiber to put into his electric mater. You know he has his money made a he could probably never work again in his life and be very, very comfortable. So whilst money won't be nothing as part of it, it will be obviously part of the negotiations. But it really depends, I think, on hi king high is to push himself and to see what he is really capable of achieving and whether he can manage at a club that's plan and look, at the end of the day you're still planning from the sixtyzero fans at home games when the law allows it. So I think a big you know, and to be honest, I don't think how is looking for an easy touch. I genuinely think, you know, he's still young. If he was twenty or twenty five years older, you'd say, well, maybe just wants to, you know, still be involved but not do anything to demanding. I think Eddie Hais under new illusions that if he comes to Celtic it's going to be a massive challenge, not just on the field but off the field as well as a whole new life to adapt to, and I guess he has to weigh up, you know, does he feel as if he has the energy and the enthusiasm and the desire to do that. Yeah, Justin Le's what you're saying. DERK Teren's case he's just saying, I think Getty whlways looking at every aspect of the club. You know, it's not as you said. They are, Chris like. It's not just the first team, it's actually where through the football and system at the club. Maybe he's actually looking through that. We have a proper academy here are that shouldn't know. That shouldn't be has, that should be only do behind. So, as I see that's it's folk how you're up the June and are who's in? You be making new decisions Abo the academy in. Maybe that's why he's pushing up even recommend guy you can manage it actually football, because he knows cops Celtic size and with the resources in knows that that guy could dad job for salty Heftu, where you done for Bonnemus. But what's your taught? And that then, like in Eddie whole, wanting to pick his own direct or football. Say Eddie, hold and get those get enough for in two years time he leaves that. They then he's going to want his own direct or football, his own courtous after go again and we're going to be back to square one, dead with W Abert Rodgers. When he left he took almost the courteous stuff with him, as as only for John Kendy wanted to stay at that time. You know that's just reading in the face. So so know that how it's forcing that for all we know. Down with dement's. Ask Tim if you can, anybody you could recommend? I'm not sure. Four weeks ago everybody was certainly was going without parking for your mind. Sorry, Dye House demanding N's and eighty. Who's demanding that, you see? But maybe has recommend on maybe I see t would be but with the job, maybe as force, and I don't know, but I don't it doesn't really make much sense. For that means if, and I fear that that way will food even think and they do. That's that. That's true. I can do you never hard of a manager kind of recommend in the kind of a director of football, director football, can it be mostly hide by the club to suit the club, but sharing the manage you know, yeah, absolutely, poll because yea, as has been quoted before and I think we've all read it. You know, the last thing a club needs is a director of football that goes with the manager or a director of football. I can only work with one manager. The director of football should be an integral part of the overall management of the club. Not necessarily good, you know, a good work in relationship with just one man. You know, it has to be someone who's employed by the club who fix the the the future intentions off the club, and then the manager should come. Be Lows that but, as Mark said, who knows? Maybe Dermat Tessamond has said, very high. What about Richard Hughes? Is He you know? We're looking to fill that role. You've worked with him. Is He a good guy? Nobody knows and everything is speculation and I think what fans need to do, and I've said it before, is be patient. You know, getting frustrated about it is doing nothing but creating negative talk rights throughout the fan and bus, whether it's on our forum or another form or anywhere else, and it's given.

It's given an awful lot of the press a huge amount of satisfaction to see it on. All they know all they have to do is throw a little bit of fuel on the fire, come out with a headline high not coming to Celtic and it's all celtics fault. And of course you're going to have a certain section of the support will say, yeah, our club always mess everything up. Now, okay, they have a bit of a tract right coord of not getting everything right, and you know, you have to accept that. But at the same time, fans need to be patient, because all of this frustration is doing nothing, absolutely nothing, other than increase in your own blood pressure and making your your life miserable and affecting your family relationship, because people are there like a wind up spring. They can't influence you. I'm a believer that you get concerned. I'm worried about the things that you can influence, and so I do think. Do you think they have a plan be Celtic? If they any whope? Thoughts to is don't know the Manjo there that they think they could get if they don't get any home? Who knows? Who knows? You know, swift a creation again into yes, right, you know, Keno and duff and probably bringing back Robbie Keanees is first signing as well. I'm just for note that I know it. I'm just saying it like I actually wouldn't be surprised if king got the job and this Eddie hooting was never in the thing like that, that he was always going to be the number one. And if all comes to all, I think we could end up at John Kenny tendency if he went to the Scottish Cup. Never know. That's enough. I'm just in it. No, now, I can't. I can't say it, and I certainly, I certainly know for sure of one guy who'd be very, very disappointed if Eddie iigh doesn't get the GIG because he walked a few quit on them to get it. I won't mention Roman's name on the air, but there you go. So we got one. Hear from Glazzgo rings. Should a director of football not be having an input in who the manager should be instead of go away, I think, because just talked about that. It's not me, don't a way at all, but maybe Eddie, who walked with this fall of Richard us. He chosted him, he chose the players he brings in. When in an idea situation, a director of football is always going to have an input, or should have an input, into the root and you should be for the simple reason that the director of football is part of the club. You know, managers come and go in an idea scenario. Directors of football don't or shouldn't be coming and going. So yes, it's always I think any club that has a director of football would normally assume that role, or it's at least that would be a big part of their remit would be to get involved in the hiring off managers and so on. So you know, to have the tail wagging the dog is quite unusual. But again it's only speculation of that some and think that's happening. We don't know what's happening exactly. So I think we'll call it there with the man just situation, because everyone's in the same boat. We actually don't know what's going on. It thought speculation always can do. Just read the papers and just ways, but exactly lit bit, I think, just are on the life Chat Don dominvins and what a very high is not certainly get the job at this point and as agent is keeping his options open if they move to Celtic falls through. Well, like the said earlier, his agent wouldn't be doing this job right if he wasn't doing that right up until the day. Eddie, how I would sign a contract with Celtic, or was Crystal Palace or Newcastle or timber two rovers his his agent is employed to get him the best working conditions and circumstances that he can. So yes, Tom you know it's a really as a sensible question. Absolutely, but you know that's an agents job is to do that. It's the same way as if it was the agent of a player. His job is to tie them around as many potential clubs as he can to get the best deal and and so on. So just to a look at what this what Chris said there at the start. They're like if you already hope, what would you go off? Would you go for Celtic, a big rebuild push with league next season, a chance to prove yourself in Europe and another chance to move to a better club down Crystal Palace in the Premier League? Or would you move to Crystal Palace? Fair enough, you might be on better wages. Are Thing I'll be without a relegation for it, because realistically that's what Crystal Palace will be in and again next season is another relegation fight. One is the choice he's a to make, as when a jump in that room to up English managers just put the game for years, like some our of days, in that of just me job, talk to job, and that's what I do. Who needs to watch you din to become goost? I don't think stabel. I don't think Sam Aldays will be jumped from job the job because his reputation is gone. To Your restland go down Voy hoage in that type of managers. These manager Coun't exactly Steve Bruce always seemed to get jokes. So actually, yeah, just going into the job just to go into a job. We...

...think it. Yeah, go through one my table club to another, just order twenty year and are always another job, but another I safe intend of the safe optionally intest it's kind of a safe passion for a manager. Just go to club. You know you're going to keep a mid table. The board is happy with you keeping them mid table. Go in a relegation fight, they be happy. Then the season just to stay in the Premier League and day taking Tis the suffet. But here's a point for Eddie whole like to go beyond that really interest show what he can do. We built like such. They with blend. The lodgers rebuild your Crower, we build your reputation. You know, you think any higher is going to be in a position because there is apparently so much work that needs to be done itself. Like yeah, a mark, as Mark said, you know that's not all going to be discussed on a great over a cup of coffee and a hotel in London. You know, if there's a huge amount of work involved in finding in fact, I think the key is that both Celtic and possibly Eddie high find common ground, because it is important that when they do start working together that a knows what is expected of be and be knows the support they're going to get. For me, because the last thing they want. It's like as like any job, it doesn't matter what it is. You know, the last thing you want to do is walk in the door and then find out two days later who didn't think? Didn't know what was going to be like this. The one thing about any high is he claims to He seems to be a very strategic thinking guy. So why should that not extend to not just to how he deals with players, but how he deals with his own career and any role that he fulfills on the people that he works with? It stands to reason that he would. He would adopt that seem mentality when trying to organize the circumstances to allow him the best opportunity to be successful exactly. So I think, look, we could, it was demanded situation. We just I just want to move on to the what you staying about league with us in this guard that we know league with is not going to be the only player listed. That might believe it, then it's easy. So what you think of the thing with league with is that he's if he's not off with it, the conject that by the end of ability they have to go in a free chance for should the club of from the contract can then maybe sell them. Our will atally keep him, but it's been a control the coup planning and selling them as he but about low for the Coptic dummy. Seen a contract and tone in the city. You can go for you can get more. You in poon for you. So I start seed before we spoke about these times up I was season. I don't buzz bombs. I think he can aber confirmed. I saw something earlier own and the city's only scored twenty four goals in the last three seasons. Yeah, I'm actually surprised or you know that that the crop did that mark, and I mean that they let this. You know, like we could ask the as a. So there we could easy get one meaning for him, like if the club actually did give me the Westay back December and then sell them on and clear seeing Scott saying yeah, it's got simplus trained and it was a range. Put likes up in the forum at the Fam I spoke about I saw your pum and it was odd Seltic, official Celtic. So you had article deleted to seeing him in a fur year deal. And then it came up for an extension and it sound that it was actually and I see years deal with a year's option. So it seems a Celtic of got a herbity did in this. That an ancient place or scenes for excellently years. But it comes into the fee. Was An option and it Disney come elite to it comes neither at the time and contract due expire. I have to say if it was, if it was up to me, I would be taken griffiths for the extra year. I genuinely would, because a new manager could be the difference and Lea Griffith still hazard in his legs to be a top striker for another seasons if he isn't shipped to do it both physically and mentally. Now you could put it this, but but he knows, I would God. But you could say like this, like you know, like do a whole relax things. We want knee learning of the training and stuff like that. US maybe goof it. To know he get away with nothing. Fish come back to preseason, do they there? There wasn't going to punch him. That must really so maybe he talked up under new manager Griffiths. Might know, like if he did come in down, he's going to be all to day with a new manadine place. You know, I'm for all way. You know it may already have been a grave for all the way. You know the club may have already told creface Laa. You know you're going to be afraid to go. I think if he does go, he will go to Aberdeen. The person who told me the email me. If you remember the actually you mail me June the show. But he did. Yeah, yeah, yeah, accordingly how it came feel he grafts she's Ol most the new when and told them they wouldn't be getting a new contractor that's contract when the beginning extended. So I think so. Yeah, but with lemon out of the equation, maybe that changes it. I don't know,...

I don't know what you mean. I don't know. I think maybe the club actually sees where they got. The fans are actually kind of fed up the way league, with his attitude is, you know, like how many chances has he got? Realistically, Friz with the Club. Wanted to show in graphics and I was great vocal about the team. I just didn't if another really wait Tom as I play and I didn't go to ea him as a person. I know with with the way she's on, like we could actually go and to at the beginning a different striker caught in this slight and you has been a good player. He scored, there's a lot of goals, a little important goes in up, but he's never us. Just jimpy screws are not miss plus, if is it got older. You think there's going to settle. Do not. But look at Scott Browne, but to trafish just you never seem to actually see little. Do not, as I said, maybe somebody Davis made a Wales. I'm going to set and talk about something. Yeah, I don't have personally know so, but it's just that was always something just bubbling under the surface. Wee Graphics, I think. I want to yeah, I think certain a lot of curtis to see in years to come when he looks back in hindsight, I think he'll be very regretful that he didn't apply himself the way he should have done. But I think you would have been significantly more successful as a player than he has been if he had, if he had done so. But you know, listen, we're all we're all geniuses, you know, when it comes to hindsight. And but it's I think why you annoys so many fans is because it's clear that the potential was there and he wasn't making the most of it. We play in the Premier League and Jim these younger the feats, as I see the feats, good to not then? Why? Because it wills e wented doing if you've been done there and played well, screw it, ton, he would have been up. Get a move up to the higher the vision, because she's master that. She'll teach you play a higher level language. Jump Shop. Yeah, after the Bendy River and you mark, you went down hill. I think after the Vendy River interview and water bend he who Bendy Water? Sorry, Paul, do you think it was the bendy water interview that actually finished him mentally? She started to believe that the Odt was last and that's when it all went. All these conspiracy theories went into his head once. You see, you don't know, because maybe he has spent every minute of every game ever since then actually with it in the back of his mind wondering. Maybe he's run around asking opposition to fenders if they have heard of a youtube videos are B but Boll be H. I see there are guys terrence turns KC. There are same crypts, his own worst enemy. The guy need to serious reality check and maybe leaving Celtic will be at the is. Let us down too much, terren side, think there's a lot of people would agree with every word you've said. Personally, I just think there's still something in them that he has to give, but I might not be right. That's just my opinion. So I want to put two comments together. There right. There's one from Don Livin and one from Rob mcnown two of mccloud sinner saw Tom says at the end of end of season, they are going to be quality players over the contract. Don't need to spend beak to improve right. So then Nick says we need to adduce our squads thighs, but we could pay higher rages for the right individuals. So we do have a big spot. Go with really average players that dog commit actually make a difference in the clubs all like. If we actually sign quality players instead of bigger squads, maybe we could actually being in these better players before as well. I've not got a problem with Strans Ferre fees. It Celtic p because that doesn't want it. There's only so much you can pay. But I'd like to see be she look one of two players I could it really going to improve this team. I don't see a problem with him getting fifty grand a week. People she who is unrest in address and who? How the guys at your fins feel? Certainly, and although when he's got his beauty spouses stoken, two hundred and fifty grand there each or something I got. If you'd wanted to talk players, you deserve Beauchi's so Celtic bringing out a couple of it, for it would granted fifty Grand Brackett is really fun to make a definity. The team should be with suns capabilities, especially money. Look at the solidly people all was getting exactly. Yeah, see the rab on the life Chat Rab mcnarris and lemon said it was stuff happening behind the scenes which had an impact new season. Do you know what it was that happened? Unfortunately, rap, no, we don't know. If you hear all these things and it or it's going to come out, and maybe it will come out and maybe it was just a lot of nonsense. You know, maybe a was lennon was having the issues behind the scenes as a post of the whole club. I don't know. Either way, I think the French much cause I lot of problems, and does everybody was seeing that. It was I as it was Julie One and...

...but for what I've been taught, it was really I I have just don't moved. Susa decent offer form the sheel to kicks it. It would be happy to go. It was me pushing it really, Julian and champ, I don't think kids. I was too impressed with it. The scene Salman the summer either and I think a thing I get Andy a squad in a we and trust he's just well. I'm moving in and how M I get your shows them how professional at all your was this season. He wanted to leave. At the start of the seat he said as he wanted leave and think, but he'd actually put his head down the season and gone on with the game. But you had the likes of n Cham, you had Julian and Edwarder just fell after the band again. I just refused to play. Basically from you you see a difference players. So you know, he's been my player of the year, all without those without dose. You know, and I actually would if I was a manager comment in whoever may be like, he would be the first post I were trying to keep at the club. I know it's going to be kind of a mission. Possibly wants to leave, but I would try at least to keep him. You know, as I think they've got to try. I don't I don't think it was successful, but the good to try. Whether that's all from the captain C I offer them a serious wage, but I too could down on settle kind the BIGODENDO. If you offer dire decapancy, I don't think Jel McGregor will be your so don't go and they're all furnace. I don't think the captaincy would be the decide in factor. UN Well, whether I or stair or not. You know, I think look, at the end of the day, Celtic our plan and in the Scottish League there are players who want to leave, not just because they want to get out of out of Celtic Park. They want to leave a challenge, a bigger challenge and a bigger league and everything that. That, you know, what usually brings more money and that kind of thing as well. But I think, you know, a lot of them are up that age where they just want to take that next step and we can all be critical of them, you know, but we probably would be doing the same thing if, you know, if it was any of us on our own job. So you know, you're always going to look to betty yourself and if those guys are able to move on to bigger league. So I just have tom here. So you can't criticize them for doing that? No, no, you can't really, because they have to look after themselves. Really in the wrong futures, when they would win, they would tire and if they want the bigger challenge if they want to have a better experience in Europe, if they can only be club you can't really disappear for doing that. Really kind of you know, you know, so short care you did is real. Yeah, it is like I just have one here. Sorry, Mark One, I was just going to see this. I'm saying you can't folk plays for right to bear other self moved to bar and leagues. Money mean to can tear met. Just Ki and try, if players let me, to make a kingdom money is setting up the family for generations, not just to know so many players are do widges that are getting do in England. They have great great grandkids will still be well off because you're the money that are bits here making a see exactly Jinny for it. But if I bet on my shelf and it amount, we walk away Fren So. Just before we move on there and the life chat, I just want to point out peaks saying here, and I agree with him. Still never replaced Scott and clear the sticky gough I was on call for. I was actually very surprised at the treatments Scott Sinker Golfham the club in his last season with a snapping played being benched every game when the last two season he was a early a joint top score, if not a top scorer. And know he had up and downs in his games. But SCOTTS and Claire, did get your golds, you know, I mean never kind of did the place and did we love, no need did it place them. But seven an a bad games, like James Forest, the kind of we can be of an a bad game, but they can pop up well when, yeah, was exactly square. Should clear. Should never have been a tight tea. I think I can do any money. You should have been trying to get him extend this contract. But what happened? What did that? Did ever come out? What happened? There this thing like why he was constantly being bench was there something put into his new contract that and the parents see? I think, like us in never got the new contract a search winter, it was side extension. I was talking excitly. Yeah, trugued, yeah, the trick of darting and never played them first. It could have been at an appearance fee and there might have been appearance fee or something in us are that he why he wasn't being played. You know that you know something of the Games or something you know about who I thought they've done me sand clear contract and then basically, Musson must yearly football through shouldn't ref his own behind the scenes, because you never ros as a personally be it, cause any trouble behind the scenes are a strange one all together.

That right. So I think we'll move on from there. The Celtic gloomers for tonight and if I think ever pop stop again. Look, we got shoe stuff. So before we move on, we like to welcome to the shore former professionals football of Barry Forms, not you going on the form as iceman. Before we get talking to to Barry, I just want to give an insight into his queer. He played with Dundee from the first of July one thousand nine hundred and ninety nine to the twenty five of August two thousand and three. He went. In two thousand and three he went down on to Harmilton across. While we know that Barry played at said the pack of six to Vic Defeat to Celtic in two thousand and three. Do we have him all all, guys? You welcome to share. We's very much for having me on. Guys, appreciate that you'll marry this before we just get out to feel questions for your your taught in this season and where do you think the clubs be going next season? The Way Forward? I don't think it's it's no surprise to say it's been a bad disaster. Guys into for the season. Very disappointing and one of the biggest seasons in the clubs has stories, certainly and my life time and going for that holy greely ten row from what's happened. It's just been so disappointing. SOS Go going forward. You know it's going to be a very interesting summer. Had A conversation with falls yourself yes something. You know it's going to be one of the biggest transitions that I can remember as a cellbic support in my time. You know was obviously we're going to get a new manager soon, but you know it's the it's the players. There's going to be so many players, you know, turn around from the guys who wouldn't be here due to the contrast that, Liza, I mean I do think I will be aware. I know you've said, mark that you'd hope you know and you maage might convince them. I would be in the same boat as that, but I think the Norwegian manor just potentially just called us because he came out. I think that week after go seeing you know it's time for Chris Sire and move. You then bomb them from the schools. You think he's started. The first game wasn't the bench, didn't get on at all, and then size his next performance against Turkey. So I think you'll certainly be on the go. So it's going to be a really interest in some other guys, but you know, I sell support us. What always hopeful. We're always excited about what the future lies ahead. But, like the say, first and Forem was to just need to get the manager in the door, that be Eddie, how or whoever it may be. Light pressing said earlier, you never ever trust what the test are they and you know, I didn't take anything from the agent's comments yesterday about I'm not being close to joining the club. But then particularly put me off. I personally thinks for will be an announcement by the end of the month, something with the fact that that's when the season took it in. Your campaign starts, and I think the club were going to want to have some good news to or a certainly hopeful news to give the fans before that campaign stops and Ho. Yes, so looking forward to the what the he think? I know Chris is dight ask this question. So, Chris Real like you'll just take at your Christians. You've been waiting for a past week to get to get out shot up a bit US question, every every take, every take. That came out. No, no, that's my question. That's well, okay, guys said. Sorry, wonderful to have you on the show. You're very, very welcome and dating thank you for taking the time to come home. Were really thank you very much. My appreciate it all. You'll. It's just great to have your vod because we're trying to build a very strong Celtic community both in the forum and the podcast and the script to have you along for the ride. But there is a question that I'm king to ask you, Verry, and it probably means more than me, than anybody else, because you have walked the path as a professional footballer that I'm sure every single one of us has dreamed of walking. So, just before I hit you with the question, I'll give you a very quick background to it. And now I've been going to Celtic Park for many years and now I normally always set about twenty rows back in the lower joke Stein stand, but it wasn't until two thousand, two thousand and fourteen. But I went on the club tour and it was a fabulous experience. I've talked about it before in the podcast, but what impressed me the most was walking down the tunnel and I'd on to the side of the pitch. I swear it. I had to stop myself from running into the center circle and jumping about. But anyway, even though it was empty, I was blown away by the theorium. When I saw it at ground leveled it look completely different to stay in it from the stand. Now I know that when you play the Celtic Park back into two thousand and three you were plans of the opposition on the day. So my questions very simple. How did it feel for you, as a Celtic fan, to walk...

...down the tunnel on match day? I'm comes the face with the crowd and the noise at the other end of it. You know something testing some of their self. You know I've had season pack as a kid with my dad, my brother. You know sat on the SPANDS for many eason. So you know to be able to have that experience without one of the best experiences of my life. That that that particular night. It was seven days before seltout played against poort or in Saville in the youth a cup final. So the atmosphere was absolutely incredible that, you know, the noise from the stadium that night. The plans were pretty much and passing with you know, the had the Sombreros, the beach balls. They were envision seven days time, you know. But at the same time that particular season the were necking that we're interest for the title. It was the year they were on the same point. They are pretty much on the same gold difference. So, you know, they were really the funds were up for it as much as the players on that day. But it was just a special, special moment for myself and like to see it, you know, to be sitting in that stands as a young kid, you know, idolizing some of these guys growing up as the years passed, to then be able to step out on at the pitch in front of sixty odd thousand supporters and rub shoulders were, you know, the guys that I cheered on and supported. It was a real special one, but at the same time I had a job to do. So you know the result that night at ten to sixty too to cell tip, you know, which obviously wasn't what I want it personally, but you know, I real, real special moment from the well, that's wonderful. I'm just grab he didn't answer that question. But yeah, it was all right. But I'm just just finally, I'm a very, very simple question. Just give me one name. And you paid for I think it was, but you are you paid? I think you come on what fifty five or fifty six minutes or something like that. Fifty five minute, so it's got start back yet decides anything. He's now. So for the time that you were on the pitch, Barry, what one Celtic prayers stood out to you? Well, you know what, I'll tell you what. There was one. There was one in particular, and obviously that that Celtic team was just lit. It was one of the best selling teams that. Yeah, I don't remember. You know. You know, I think in the midfield that there was a pet throft len and lumber thompson and I got laughs and was up front. He score that they were Maloney. But the one person that really stuck out for me. I make comments a slight spide. It was Neil Lennon. It was really, you know, something just huts covered just about every played a glass that night and, as you can imagine, I done the against Celtic at Celtic Park. When no sell, I am going for the League's a ride and high. They had the lion share of possession, you know, seventy plus percent, I've imagine, but any time another had that, you know, any time we managed to get possession, he was the one that was at the fourth front when I get the ball back from them. He was covering every play the glass. Certainly every time I managed to get a touch in the ball, which was often that night, he was within five ten yards, you know, really trying to get that ball back. So I would say that particular night when Thenn was the one when there was the guy that stuck out for me. And you know it doesn't really get a great deal of treader and that team govern that the talent that was there. And you know the showman likes myrath checked. You know the goals that hen at scored shot and ups, and you know Pettroft. You know he's the one that sort of stagent a back room something, but certainly that night he was the one that really stuck out for me. is just a sheer desire, you know, sell it what. I think that one point that was six one up, but he was still so determined to get the ball back and get them back on the front to going for from more goals, and you know that. I think that was a testament these character. But I would say to us when and was the one that pertectular mayther stuck out for me. Wonderful Staff, a fabulous you know, marry, not only did you answer the question, but he given a fantastic explanation of why, why you named them. So thank you. Listen, guys, I can rest easy for the night now. I'm just polite to Barry has given us those given us that insight to actually plan a Celtic Park, because to me that's my you know, I've almost lived my dream. For you. They are about he some thank for that, but we all have Christy aby. I had. So I think by just moving under and we we as you said there week. We talked yesterday and you talked about to me. You talked about leading as well yesterday and we were saying like that. Lennim gave his life to Celtic blistically and as every Celtic Science. You remember knee len for what he did for the club, not just the diseason. You know, Niland is a legend and just hope that this season doesn't damage why. He actually did party club absolutely any obvioser neal was a fantastic player for the club. You know, it was very successful as a third one, money trophies and he had to go through a hell of a...

...lot. You know, it wouldn't been easy for a lesser of character to turn away and decide, you know, it's not worth it, it's not worth putting my family through that. You know, getting bullets to the door, you know, getting attacked and a dog out. You know, it would have been easy for learning to walk away, but you never and that was because he's loved for the football club. You know, he's a Celtic supporter just like the rest of us, as much as any would be. And you know this season has been disappointment. You know, and I certainly as I just hope that you know and you're stick come work and remember Neil Lennon for all the good that you achieved, and as a player and as a manager, and not for what's happened this season, and I certainly think he deserves that. Hopefully. You know, times a great healer and I see as time we can remember, Neil Lennon, from what you achieved as a player, random manager, exactly saw moving on from from that match you said was it was a two weeks later you're actually in the stadium watching the Saint Johnston's game when hard black back up the final gone against a Johnson that we want a league. I will commitment that your sent e. That was a different that was a different year. I mustaid matter. Still, I don't really youngster. Yeah, I still a youngster, but you know, that kind of just goes back to the fact that, you know, I'm sitting in the stands and watching these guys playing, idolizing them and then, you know, like I said earlier, to get the or button it up show doesn't actually go and share a field with from you know, I was a special moment for me and for my family. Know come from a bug celtics supporting family, so you know, it was a great moment for me. So that teams like that team get they had likes of lasting hearts and stain iron carbs in Leaden Marache be beat players, big player on Boba, Balda pop can cancel to come peace, to bring these players like that into the club. Peak name players are shooteam doors day's a god Chris Financially for the clubs. For me, yeah, also, I as can barry on me that doll no bag side, Barry side that. You know some I think, to be honest with the guards, to bring them bigger name players, I can't see. You know, I think the financial gaps just too big. Man. You know, I think back then self like were able to sort of compete. You know, we'll manage to say to a sting from from Chelsea and off for six million pounds us. You know it's previous fee from black bunt to Chilson was pen. I know I will were able to compete wage. WHYSE? You know, I think like you han't last and I think you know you was sawing about thirty Eightzero pounds a week in order. I think at the time bright team was the highest painder. That his player on Fiftyzero. So the gap wasn't that big. But then the gap is just huge. No, so you know, I can't see your school out and sign and plus but not look like people have commented on to an. I don't see why we can't go and get some decent players. You don't have sometimes for to big sties to get players, you know, those players that will do the go that were could potentially offer a decent which that. And we're still a massive club, you know, while still a tool that you know, whilst the Scottish we may get its critics and so on and so forth. Well, I still a big club for ast all a bad club that players won't want to come and play for. Exactly. So, with the problems this season were myself, Christ and mark. I've been talking about it the last podcast is our USIC had me that the seems to be no pass way for them to break into the first team and another of young players actually leaving recently. So when you were the young pair attorney, what was kind of given to you as your development as a player and to make your break you into the fourteen bay? Yeah, well, I think like back then, you know and as you stage, you know if you were doing well, you know, and I was Fortun enough to play and for a pretty decent done the youth team. You know, the first year we reached the Cup final. You know, watch to sell up in the Cup final, but along the way we're knocked out. Rangers were knocked out hearts. So a few were developing well. You were right. And with the first team in terms of training. Now you weren't. Okay, you might not have made the squad, but you were right in the mix and, to be honest, you kind of felt apart and the team, and I think you know that that's what needs to happen. The neuse development itself, it was, will be huge for us. I really think you are that we need to put a proper focus on because, you know, I think going forward, the rest that there is issues with it. Just now, you know, we're losing players. You know, I think Barry hit Bonele and Morrison. Both of it are Bayern Munich. There's been guys going to man Sett are you know what? We're losing players right less than sir. I don't these guys there clearly thinking to themselves. You know, I don't see a pass way to the Celtic first team, so I'm going to try elsewhere. You know, I really think that we have to have a massive focus on it, probably more so now with the whole breaks. Its Fun because Celtics model at them and, as well know, as it's going into Europe and it's signing players, you know, young players from European leaves have been undiscovered, not to them, develop them and sell on them on for some big profits. We're not going to have that option going forward...

...because these players will not have, you know, be allowed visas into the country. So we really need to be looking at you development and I think whoever comes in, you know, the director of football, you know, I think that's going to be a massive part of self. It's, you know, plan going forward is to develop this juth and, like you said, Paul, you know, these these young kids, they need to be able to see a way of how they're going to get into the Celtic first team, because right now I don't think it's there and that's the reason we are losing a lot of talent to some of the Europe's biggest clubs, and that that that doesn't mean sit well for me. Sorry, would you say that they're sorry, Paul? Would would you say that they are paths to the first team is blocked because of the structure of the club and not their actually individual ability. I would say that that's probably the case. Stress I think it has to be. You know, like I said, well, it's not like we're losing players eighteen, nineteen that have had, you know, a taste of first team football, not getting made the minutes at the want and I've decided to move on to other clubs. These are tends, sixteen year old. The Fact Seen The ledger sixteen, the too large to have gone to buy our mute. You know, they're both sixteen year old. You know. So it's funny with the talk about a fair goal park and being, you know, the pathways manager for months. I don't think it selt like how the passway from the new team. You know, I have to last sometimes when I hears, you know, past talk about our support of something, talk about you know, Colum McGregor and you know James Forrest. You know these players who broke through. I think Jim Force, thirty year old, because from a column Gay was not too far behind them. There were no all the of being like kmtm. They and you probably look at Mikey Johnson and Stephen Welsh. That needs to be more than needs to be more teds coming and you know the need sellout, need to get back on a field war by the developing these young players and these players are common in the first team and staking a claim because she's now. It doesn't happen to often and I like the Spey, with some money gap. We don't have the finances to go out and sign, you know, top European players. We really need to have a big focus on and my opinion, within them, a big focus on youth teaming and going forward like this is whoever gets the direct or a football job. I think that's going to be a massive fine for them. Exactly that we would send out like the young lad ruc the cannons. He's actually gone out to the queen of his dead Queen of the seals, is it the KA? The Queen the Queens, parks, I queens parts far he actual tree sis, I think the too goals and three games or something like that. And he said, and he's told too many match performance showed show you the guy. I can he comes in next season he should be breaking into this first team, because I was talking to yes he said he pretty he played in the preseason friendly against tips and he's passing was was absolutely amazing. You said that he is a vision of the game. You don't? Yeah, I mean I watched that game that was spoke about, pauline knows, a preseason friendly against hid itself, that parking corner, played in the center the park, and he had a fantastic game, you know. But he's never been seen French. You know. So. So obviously it's been the favor. Yeah, whether it be themselves, that's gone. You know. The Corbin said, you know, I want to get out and play for steam football, because you don't. That's not a self games. Just so there's no there's no, you know, sort of even friendly's been so these guys are just common and these kids dub the training Monday a Friday and I'm not really getting any game time. Body take a big advantage for yes, because so I macd just what you're talking about. The body. Do you think of it? You see the beginner, I've lost it. Forgets about the pass way. Meant no, or you see, son, I thought of comment a totally lost sort. When you go with your talk, would you bury borry? Would you say that me, Lennon was an obstacle to a lot of the young players coming through, because on the last podcast with chattered and I had certainly given and it was just my view at the time, is that, you know, these young lads coming into the development squad, they're like any bunch of young lads who talk to each other. Are you know, are are they saying to you know, to young lads coming in? Listen, you're not going to get a chance. He doesn't give anybody a chance at all. Don't take that intrust them because, to think, the die and sought. Yeah, he stopped with the same eleven field that he tried and trusted to say exactly. Yeah, I'm not judge. And the point, admit at that time, was that I felt perhaps it was actually down to Lennon's lack of confidence in his own position, as it were, you know, as much as actually a lack of confidence in the ability of the young lads, feeling that if I bring a couple of young lads in, or even one and if he has a nightmare of a game, I'm going to be blamed and I, you know, and I really don't feel comfortable, taken that stick buried. Do you think was any truth in that, or is that the wrong way to look at it. I don't know, to be honest, because you know I'd be less like the appoint the finder at the old N...

...and. But pause. Look at the managers before I'm you know, there's been Brendan Raw Gerstrownie dial and the wnen before that. How many you players have come through the system? Only plays are broken to the known. You know, me a learning gives James foresty's debut as I find a nineteen or twenty eight old than his first and as manager. And you know, beyond maybe Columcgregor, who thinks him a number body dialer, but I'm not thinking on it. Yeah, there's not even sort of any. You know, Mikey Johnson's had a handful of games. You know, I'd be last light with the point the finger at the LANTA. Listen, I think I had the conversation with Paul yesterday about the Lena. You know, I'm certainly not going to going to bash the guy, but I feel Neil Lennon's sort of qualities as a manager, you know, when it comes to tactical side of things and development, I think personally they limited and I think when the listen two players who have played under them in the past. You know the talk about how he never really spoke about tactics and never never really did shape during training. He was more of a motivator. So you know from that point of view that could potentially hander developing young purpose. It's maybe not his forty to do that, but I think you know, if you look back on previous managers that are that were hard than the last sort of ten to fifteen years, you know I don't see many use players coming through that. So I would I would suggest it's more to do with the structure, the Youth Development Stature in the club that needs looked at, as opposed to the individual managers. Now part of this season, though, Barry and a lot of people would have claimed a John Kennedy was the backbone of Celtic. But because this season has been so poor, a lot of fans, certainly from what I've seen, have to haven't just been blaming Neil Lennon, they've been blaming John Kennedy every bit as much. And then in the last few games when he has been in control again, a lot of fans saying, oh, it's just the same as before. Get Kennedy. I it seems like, have to fan base want Kennedy one. John Kennedy out as well, whereas, like I say, prior to this season he was considered as Mr Celtic, the backbone of the whole training structure, and he was so good to Rogers wanted to take him to lester as well, but he said no, we wouldn't go. He's even talk that he turned on the heads job. Do you think this season has damaged John Kennedy's position at the club? You know personally, you know. So I think we're John Kennedy. Listen, you know. I don't think there's any doubt he house coaching abilities and you know, when you speak to players that are maybe play I've been coached by you know. You also what Brendon Rodgers has to say about them. He's clearly a good coach. I think the issue is a lot of the conception is that John Toonny is a defensive coach and when Celtic lose, you know it's so many goals at set pieces and then never seen to learn the lesson game after game. A lot of people point the finger at John Kennedy and say, well, you're John Kennedy was just sent a halfway. Is he not sort of that. So it's not the case. John Ken's not a he's a football coach, is not a defensive coach. So I personally feel present and I had this conversation with Paulius bit, I think it's time for I Kennedy to go from Celtic, and I don't mean that and a disrespectful way or a you know, our finger pointment. I think, you know, for his own development. I think he's to go and take a team. He used to go and get his own football club, Manager Football Club, put his stamp on things and kind to put his teeth and management, because he's been a coach now at Celtic for a number of years, you know. So I think the longer he stays at the club it might sort of Studmate has coaching development. So I think, you know, as time for John Candy and move on and try tries hand that management and going through, because I think there was a consensus at one point that he was the natural successor to kneel when and you know, before things went you know, people were talking about huge step and I don't buy another. I think you need to sort of go and earn your rights to get the Celtic manager job. So I think me personally, I think John can they should go going to management. You know, put something team, develop a team, you know, earn the PLAUDE's or whatever it may be, and then you never know, further done the light, he might very well end up as a Celtic manager. But for me John Candy should I think he should be moving on the summer and whoever gets the manager job at Celtic should looking to be bringing with their own stuff. Yeah, how do you feel about Scott Brian Leaven Barry? Personally, I'm disappointed. I'm disappointed a Scott bruns letter. I know again he's taking a lot of flats the season. You know, every player you can point to, put any finger, every player for what happened this season. But I just feel, you know, okay's legs aren't there anymore. He's I think he's certify the don't know if his day six the summer. I don't know, or I's just comin ter. If I'm not sure, there's no doubt you know he's legs what they used to be. But I still think you to make a contribution to the team. I...

...really do, and I think you know welst that wasn't a great performance. Again, staying there's a few weeks, but he was board man of the match and you know he control stames. But I don't feel selftic use him the way should be used. You Know Celtics, you know under milning and the diamond formation. What have you seemed to put the place through? Scott Brom he was the first, you know, the defend. The friends would pass it the bound and Brown with cant that. that. That's not for me. That's not Scott broms strength. Scott Burn strength is snap and getting the ball back, getting in players faces. Do you know? For Me Carl McGregor should have been the guy that was getting the ball and control the midfield. So I think, you know, there were using Scott Brown not the way should have been used this season and I think personally he's played more minutes and the probably should have had. You know, it's probably you know, held sorrow back a little bit. You know, sortro came and you got good minutes eund about. You know, the Christmas time he was doing well and then all of a sudden, you know, Brown was back in the team. I think he should have been new stermily. But you know, I'm a bit that's appointed because I feel it could had another season. You know, he's clearly a good influence around the dressing hom he is very well respected. Yeah's attude that you know when you're listen to people speak about his attitude and turning, he seems to be non stop. You know, yeah, he's all going. So I'm a back disipe. I didn't feel a comment. But you know what, part of me as well takes my heart to the guy because clearly he's looking at his future in terms of developing himself as a coach. Now he's going as Stephen Glass's assistant up our bargain, so he's looking at how he can develop himself as a coach. He's taken that step. So from the time that and we're John King, I think he should be doing the same. But yeah, from a personal point of view, guys, I'm a slightly disappointed that Brown has decided to move on, but at the same time I do respect the respect them for what he's doing. Well, maybe in the back some day back to you their part. So I just will no doubt with Barry with our the pairs supposed leaven in not Negassian to our contracts and on setting address them. Have you ever been the dressing with a player, on setting a player, even in a non set address room? Well, Ho, yeah, the time, you know, and Madundee's there was I don't know how much you guys remember that. We're got an Italian manager, a guy called the vinal but yeah, but bess n Benetti came in and what followed them with an influx of form players, some good, some knots too good, you know, but the was about a boss that you know. I'm just a young sort of kid at the time that I remember there being a bit of a bust up at train and and the players involved are pretty much ostracized. You know, they were banished from first team, everything to do with the first team. They got their own training facilities. So you know, obviously it's never good. It's never good when you know there's a divide in the towns and room. Obviously that's number. I was a start as ab and that's not been the case itselfic. You know, as a guys touched an earlier that there is players you want to be but I mean that's just natural. You know, that's just natural. All you know that that is the Celtic model. is a friend of touched on earlier. We went and find guys like Christopher I are, you know, I'Sen ed war Christ they's a young kid, you know, and charm these guys. You know that that's the model of Celtic. We go and we're saying these players, will give them a platform to play on. You know that they're getting the competing for trophies, the playing on the European stage and as a result, you know, if they do well, teams are going to notice some so it's only natural all that, you know, these players are going to want to move on a bigger league and bigger wages. It's just, you know, it's just the way footballers and you know, I think it was interesting. You know, Damot Desmond said any statement. You know, going back a couple of weeks, he was prepared for us to happen, that that was a consequence of him holding on to these players. And you know, in the quest of ten and a row he decided that the weren't going to be sell and Edward or Chris Day or I or you know. Anyway, he was going to keep his has squad together. But as a result, he was very well aware that next summer, as in this one coming, that there was going to be a huge transition. So you know, hopefully you know, he's prepared for that and I don't know whether that means, you know, there's there's going to be money there to spend in the summer at the imagine I would be. But, like the say touched on himself with regards to the summer, was always going to be a transition as a consequence of holding on to your your Edwards and I as etc. I can and hear the new poll. Oh Yeah, I'm going to ask you and I left pop top my thought. The steampid died as creation in my head. But back to about plays can and loan. Do you think his party the let me curse see you left, untie, going harmilt with the detail. You go and spend a season. How come back you'll be ready for a first team. You...

...know what market was. It was other way about. ME. It was other way about because so I I was forse enough to Breaston and the first team at Dundee and, like I said, the only played a handful of games. It was like fifteen games that I'd played. But you know, I was never consistently involved. I was never sort of playing week in week out and as a result, one said once that had that sort of taste of first team football. When I wasn't a playing every week, I wanted to go out and did it. So was me myself that went to the manager, it was jump Duffer at the time, and I said, you know, I'm not playing as much as I want to. You know, you would it be possible for me a bond more and see agreed and, like you say what I think it's a great part of players development, you know. So you know when I went, when me personally, but I went on ward to harmelt and absolutely loved that. I mean these were guys, you know. I'd gone from a changing room the huds, you know, read players in it. You know, you're looking at the time at the Dune, thee changing millionder was rather in Elle that was in that team. Really brownly just parting going anything, you know, kips by Johns and IG know I went from, you know, share that changing them with these guys for going in with guys who, you know what we part time. You know, desperate to win games of football, desperate to get promotion, you know, and what normal working environment? I could not normally, but I've got the banner. How he said go with that absolutely brilliant and the thing was as well. It was an eye opener because you know these guys, you know they're alive on you know the way the small one bonus as because that's the help that I don't know. You know, by by them of water. It could have helped, you know, get my wife. I catching you pay the light. You know it was? I don't, but I absolutely love that breast that a lot of my team at hall one was. I held Douglas Park. It's no, I was a new douglass partner. It was. It was a new one. It was grass at the time. Right enough. It was not ast tough, but you know, but that that was me and I believe it's you know you're going in against guys that you know. I'm as scared to catch you. You know that they're there. Are A preyer up in the really helps you develop physically as much as it does mentally. So that's why I think it should be part of as. I'm seeing about like a cornal. Hopefully he's there learning. He's I mean Stevid Beck when won't be pressed in. No offend. Tam Agregor went to Natalki Dat to me and you know should be players are a certain level going the first team, but it should just see anything to go whichin the lows them of that and they're learning coffee their young player and that should be like the final year. But you caught an old fashion apprenticeship. Get to get toughen top, get kicked on doing the park and learn a bit the old ditty style of football. That be you'll either be ready for celtake and you'll be ready play for somebody a decent enough level. Absolutely you know something. It's it's a real lie opener and you learn a lot more. Like I personally, I found and I'm sure anybody it does go and one. You'll learn a lot more from going and playing and competitive senior football then you would do from from a serve match or an under twenty one game or you know your friendly is that you have Atlantic crown. You would learn a lot more than going and cutting your keys down in these lower leagues. You know, going up against guys that you know sort of tough guys, hard men. You guys are desperate to win games. Are Football and, like you, see as a real eye opener and by the time you've gone down there and as your success and makes you appreciate what you've up when you're back at the club, you know that your play start. But I agree with you, mark one hundred percent for me. You know, any of the young Celtic players that you know are maybe aren't quite at the level that they are getting making the first team squad. They need to go and cut the piece, you know, and the championship, but or even league one. I think look the corner. He seems to have embraced it. Yeah, when I spoke about the yes, but you know, he's gone in there and he's shown, by what I've heard in the reports that I've read about them, it soon a terriff, a cat chude, Queens Park. He's going in there in showing what they can do, is coming, we can do. I think you got it's had three in three mind the matches, the goal and to assists. So he's really embracing that, the opportunity to go and play on more a senior club and good luck time and I think more, more players it should be doing the same. Ourself, Pi should be certainly looking at sense come of these guys out. I know, I think you're Henderson's just went to the dumfoundly recently as well. These are the opportunities for these guys to go and get manuts at senior level and I'll set them in good stead for hopefully coming back in the summer and having a good go for the new manager itself. It I mentioned there, Barry, just in the rumor section at the beginning. I don't know if you heard or not, but that young nervation lad we have, Young Leo held, is up to the staggies at the minute. We'll read and seems to be getting a really, really good reviews. Do you know anything about him...

...at all? I don't. I don't know too much about him in terms of you know, probably what the next on. But you know what, probably a lot of Celtic fun. I always take a keen interest on the use. Always like to see who's going to be coming through and WHO's gone opportunity. So you know, I think it was John Jus that went out in request. I'd he actually wanted, yeah, you or help to come in and certainly he made a big impression early doors, because I think John Hues was talking them up very well and really, you know, suggesting that he could come in in the summer and certainly do a job at center half. But, like I see, you know, a good opportunity for this this guy to go and you know he's and you'll be playing at a good level. You know he's played a good level. I think you actually got good raps against rangest now, I think you know. I think they took a bit of a doing that, they think, the last six hours. But John Jus was very complimentary. I held in that particular games. So, you know, like a like, as mentioned in there. You know, good opportunities for these guys to go out and experiencing, experiencing your football. You know, them not getting the minutes to itself take at this moment in time. So a good opportunity to go out. But you know, you've got to impress in these games as well. You've got the impressed, the manager and you know, there's no doubt that, you know whoever the manager, maybe John Juser, I'm sure to be keen to give her a port on held that and, like I say, I think it speaks volumes for the guy that is now being went with a move to fill handpnt and so you must be doing something right out there. But you know that these are the guys that you know we really need to be hopefully given an opportunity to thought opportunity arises. So so so I, you think, take myself in that cooks and in the first podcast we did and we talked about core teams that we have heard Ireland we have Shama gloves have a courting down here and I know it's being the fuels a lot of times, often Scotland. But I would be great then if it is got a stopball and event of that not just found because but Scottish players as well, to have a selticin range of court teams in the low divisions to help these youngsters players there could discompetitor football. That's that's happening, you know, because that is it's been refused again. Was it refused? Yeah, right, you know, some I see both good and but you know to to the course hes because you know to have them in the low scottishly you don't understand the potential there to to be a good option to the blots prom but I personally would probably, I think personally I would rather see these rather than the core team itself reformed as a team in the Lord. I'd rather see the players, after not getting the opportunity it, sell it tartly, go out and play for your Dumbarton's. You know, your allows your dumb firm ones to actually experience what it's like in those teams. You know the Hump too, you know, to have a guy be willing to give you a ballock and if you make a mistake, you know. You know effectively, effect and their one bonus are that. You know. I think it's a massive LEM and experience. So you know the Colt teams. Still think it would be a good idea to of them the Lord League. Personally, I would rather see the younger players go out and actually experience, seem, the football at the Lore League Scottish clubs. Then I would to see a cult team, I sell took or a ranger cool team and the lower the Scottish football league. I think it's better for the Lemon Club for these guys to go and actually play. And you're like I see your Dune Barns. Yeah, a different managers better and see different times. Well, what man just say and what a manager different of you would have an up there do an he's all kind of team as when in yeah, absolutely, you know something. Maybe even learn a different site your game again. Yeah, again, where you might have to roll the saves up and get stuck in. You know, I think you know and the sorry US development as a lot of really good football players, you know. But what you probably don't see, as you know, games for are you a way to e starling on a cold Wednesday night. But you really have to dig deep and, you know, rule the sleeves up and and really work and work hard for you for your one. I think that's a massive part of a young players learning pard and, like I say, I certainly learned that whenever from Dundee to Hamilton. I certainly learned that. The different site in the game. That another experience when I was at Dund and and meet person. I rather see some of these celtic youngsters go out and learn that side and the game rather than maybe to see a Colt team in the lawer divisions. But I can I really competitive that died about to start to really they're not going to get promoted. They're going to stay in that division all the time. It's yeah, I don't really benefits you. They know either is there. I know for me it's just basically a self that cooking playing against the world leads or position, you know'St the wealth that will be competitive in terms of these teams are dusted to win and you know, dust with the goalp against your cell. It's a names as white as they meet. Personally, I'd rather see these young guys going out and...

...getting good experience with some addressing and play. What you see plain for a different manager and really wellman a different side to the game that I feel would be beneficial to them for when they came back to the football club. Is that that is actually a very, very good point, bar A. Yes, it's a big get, you know, because it doesn't matter whether it's in England, Scotland, the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland. You get so many hard men playing in the Lower Leagues, don't you? You know there may be lacking a bit in talent, that's why they're in the lower leagues, but they're they're good, honest to goodness tough, hard, hard players and to get those young lads in the mix with them in training and playing with them as opposed to playing against them, as part of their own little cocoon, and I think that that's actually a very a very clever inside sort of look at it, and that comes from someone like you with your experience, because I think a lot of us would have said beforehand, yes, it would be a terrific thing if we could get, you know, as Paul Mention, and there are cult team or a junior team to go into the second division or whatever. But that, yeah, I absolutely agree with what you said and I've never thought of it that way. Kept those young dads in and around those guys, working with them every day, and that's when the lighter, that's when, basically, the game will either make them or break them and shows how good they are. Absolutely, certainly, and personally, certainly tough and drop, you know, like you see, you're going and you're playing against these tough, honest, you know players, but you're also playing myself, you know, your teammates. Yeah, also act top you up in the train sations, the not there, not slow to mess if you make an air out, you know, they feel that you're not fooling your way and does develop yet proper and drop, both mentally and physically. And, like I say, guys, I just feel that, you know, I don't know if it's gonna be an old fashioned mindset, but I feel at what's well for me and I've seen it working well for other people and that starts the way I would be looking to do. I'd be looking against some of these young kids, and I'm you know, honest, senior teams and really learning and developing a different size of their game, and I almost said random and good stead for when they do come bast and hopefully make an impact for self to it. So yeah, just we just looking there very like give us a rundown on contact negotiations between a player and the agent and is a stressful for you to get that deal of the line. A working of goes down behind the scenes there. So well, you know, or something at the time, I think football or football with a slightly simpler time back then, if I'm honest. But but Tis for your first Dadad have an age of my first contract. You know, it was a hits contract, so there's no nothing into it, you know, as a two year use tennis scheme contract. You're on these development team now we're send that and then got a one year professional contract about six months in to my wife yes, so there's no negotiations. It was just very much a case of you know, this is this is what we're going to offer you. It's great if you say that. If you didn't, you're not coming with us. Similar as that. But when I got get one sort of bigger or longer contract done thee I made my first team debut. I was in the final year on my contract and I made my first team debut, ironically, against Hamilton. That's from done. It was only cup match and that very soon week done. The offer me a four year contract after that. Good, now we dead have an agent. At the time. So basically the course action was the director of football, the DUNEE director of football, came to to see like you know, would like to offer your contract and they asked me if I had an agent, which I did. So at the time he went and and negotiates probably not the right word. He went and spoke to the clubs and it came out and he basically just said, and you work the SULD A, I'm goverfered you a four year contract. This is the money the built and to offer you. Then said I did ask him if it was negotiable and they told me you know, it wasn't it? So that was it. But to be honest with you, I was a young kid at the time. You know, I'd only made one senior appearance and they been offered a four year contract. So I wasn't thinking about money or anything like that. I'm just delighted that, you know, potentially for the next yeah, that's what I was about work, you know. You know I had an opportunity now, from the next four years to go and establish myself at the club. So the money thing was never an issue and and like it SA in terms of negotiating, you know, the wasn't a negotia. You know, maybe a player that's maybe real established, it's maybe played, you know, a hundred fifty games for a football club. They might be hub. You know, the negotiating power of the going to will actually know I'm wanting extu offer me as but I'm wanting more. I don't even give it a second thought. I just a situation.

To you are just like you're love for the game by US exactly. I think it was twenty year old when I got off of that contract. It was a case of give me a penal, saying it's for everyway and my thought, you know, I've got four years now to go and sort establish myself at this football club. But, and you know, take it from there. Unfortunately, again the last forward. Yes, because the club went into administration two years into that and at that point I lost I lost my job and my contract was teveny and the sounds of that very know, if they have brought you into discuss that for year contract, you know your level of enthusiasm, as you've just explained so well. If they had asked you to pay them fifty grads to give you a week to give you a four year contract, you might have said yes, we you. For some the would have been running out a loss for then much more than that, to re perfectly. Yeah, I mean, I mean, yeah, I mean, like I say, you know, I was in the last year of my contract. So that point it was made or break from me. You know, I was very well aware of that. If I don't do something this year, you know, whatever, it doesn't happen for me. You know I've not broken the first team, that that will be me away. You know, I was very well aware of that. So like to see to get offered a four year contract after my very first appearance for the football club. You know, I was I couldn't, I couldn't say them back enough with something of that. But I think, like I say, I think it was about some plot back then, because no one it's not just agency here. It seems to be teams of agents. You know, you have an onto rage a people, you know, as you know, advise, financial advisor. You don't do any work to just rule in the money. So that's that. And so you want people involved. You know, it's as moved from players not have an agent. Two players have in one day Jan and now some players have got two and three agents and financial advisors and it just seems a messy process and I don't I don't envy the process now because I meet another week because know the Premier League clubs. You about these champion League changes, in that there was a meeting between on the Premier League clubs. Behavior is two agents was one of the top agendas. or I'm not going to mention who these two agents, but the behavior in the influence are having in the game with one of the agendas. Who Not Meeting? Yeah, yeah, it wasn't. Show me you're going the game. Is just unbelievable. Real ridiculous because when you're going to buy a player, no, like it's not just the players for your paining. For like you could be paid at least ten million, twenty million there for an agency, you know, bistically, before you even buy the player. That could be the agency, basically before you got to buy page. It's a town tale and clubs. I want this money before you get any chance. You Seen Him, my player? Yeah, yeah, yeahs fere fees are in and it's right that toll or center running. You know something. But but the certain managers, all kid or probably about old still managers now, to be perfect us, they would not sign players that are didn't because that refuse to deal with them. That affused to deal with them. Love Listn't to podcast recently about a wellknown Scottish manager and he refused to deal with any player or sign any player if you had to deal with an agent, you know, and that's you know, these guys have been in the game a long time and they can see that the Negga and influence that these guys of. But I mean, I fully agree agents are run in the game now that the money that making these ridiculous like it's ridiculous, like right and like it's for me, like these ages, like your your nasteen order and your nineteen. I can you'll get nearly sixty eighty toesens yours be your the polls, a weekly money for an Asia. I know wonder some of them are going off the walls the way they carry on. Bead you have all this money into our bank account every week. You know it's they should be kind of a cast really on the want there. If you look at if you look at one of the shocking experiences we has, you know, with a young player having his head turned. Was Young is Lam for us when he left and went to Chelsea. Apparently, yeah, just was absolutely know, he was ninety nine point ninety nine percent of the reason why why the lad went. Now it turns up, well, he clearly had attitude issues as well, because they have followed him everywhere he went. But you know, a young player like that that had natural, obvious ability had been hyped up so much, obviously by an age. And do you know, you can get this and you can get that and it but it's not, you know, particularly a young lad like that. It's not just a case of we can get you x pounds a week. It's like we can guarantee that your family are going to be set up as well. Yeah, exactly. It's a family promises to the farm. will buy your mom a break. Finds you who's? Yeah, I mean if you're a young boy, really body some day, don't wish it to your body. Well, watching for coming comment, shine for a feud, one comment, shine for Rangers Body. Okay,...

B there in five grand will buy your mom know Whosian Poon? Who's would you have done it right? Okay, you just said the football club there, because it's funny because Abso, when I was at done the I was a well, wellnown within the engineer exact except as a Celtic face, and I used to get asked that. I used to ask that question. You know, would have a sign for Rangers? You know, if offered you twenty grand a week, you tell me from that down to. My answer was I would one hundred percent on that Down't for the some okay, and the reasonings to give was if I was good enough to have twenty grand a week at the end, just I would bigger enough to earn the same amount our carved the city or we're going to athletic at a time I just yeah, just start called Mark, just start club. I should not bring myself to the same for that football club, feel like. But with the whole poon. WHO's for your mom of Swede, your decision? People Watch any other team, name Wand. If I say you know, you know, as a young kid, you know, to be able to offer your parents, who have done everything for you, you know, who have driven you to where you needed to go as a young kid, you know, to football grounds and to you know, when you were at play Sunday boys football. Is that, you know, to be able to give them something back. You know, it's of course, you with you even hesitate, even has a cup Perdud that. So it's a quarter employee, especially for for the younger, you know, the really sort of young players could because, like I say, uh, I'm trying to out a touch where you scoop bonner, but I'd imagine every youth player has an agent. You know, like I said, I never heard one as a youth. It was more as time went on with me that I don't get an agent. But I'd imagine that that would be one of the first and John Players doing. I was getting sort of or even agent school and and and try you sell themselves to young player. So I still just don't learn too young play. I'm saying, listen, as you come with, maybe, if you come with my agency company will give you a hundle grand and we'll give your parents holves. That's a no brainer. I don't tell. Yeah, and I'm stead. I've that's actually going to persuade a young carr again, teach. Yeah, it's really go to kind of a young Hare's head like this. If I can get my parents a hulks here against get their lict to money for my found in the fuel dure as you'll play. You're going to be thinking, of course, and got to bed. Yeah, I mean it's just like to imagine your boss. Imagine you, you know, it's any walker likes, you know, if you were on a press engine here, if you're boss on with your by the way, you know, how would you feel we were able to give your your mom and Dadda House, see any Walker ice, Anywak lies you, you would snap that up, you know, to be able to do that for your parents. So but yeah, I mean that's the way. That's the way. A just write these not a good sign in football. Just before we move on, there myself, Chris and mark. They were talking about the referee in Scotland this year, not just this year, the last couple of seasons. was the referee kind of pull back when you were playing, like these decisions being missed, like tire carpendies not being given? And I think would you being favor by coming up to Scotland? Are Not in favor of a come to Scotland? Well, I mean, I think answer your first question, I think I don't think anything's been in blatant as as the season. And you know something, I'll be perfect as I've never been one to sort of bash referees. I've always looked sort of more and house, you know, I've a Celtic of it. When I give a football. I've never really been one to sort of look at the referee in performance of instead try to sort of look at where the team went wrong or, you know, whether it be part it's. But you know, I think it's difficult to get away from the blatant, obvious decisions that have, you know, of got the other same team for the other side the city, you know, for them to have gone a whole season with how offending off with a penalty awarded. I don't think that's ever happened in any season. But you know, probably to Contradictor, I'm not about fan of our. I personally I wouldn't like to see it coming into Scotland. You know, these these marginal off side yeah, the talked about that last every week it just does my head and you know, the parking milly me. I've, you know, to see that. But listen, I think it's pause for certain aspects again, you know, so things like maybe apparently being awarded or not. Yeah, a lass, that idea. hosketball cross the line or not? Yeah, I'll like that. But to bring it and for, you know, offside decisions, and I've read recently the looking at, you know, corners and throw ones. I mean, yeah, in the names going to end up come up if the fly harder is very about. Yeah, the legs come up on the floor end up lasting two and three hours. Now, if you're going to go there for a corner or a throw and scools going. Ye, I mean, personally I wouldn't like to see you and Scotland, and I know that probably goes against what I'm saying with regards to you know the multiple decisions...

...that have gone in favor of Rangers the season, but not not, you know what, Notnot for me. Thank you. would be welcome to Scotland. If it was run right, she if it was in the you know, it depict seed and looking the referee's looking back when a monit to make the decision. I saw it was intend. I just hope he don't get it my mind and dare the Father Bobby Mandy. I don't at the bar that we we we your passionate up to people setting up my office. Some perty go for every single Anglia. That was the ways at FIFA. Tay To bring baron. If you remember back to the World Cup Russia, if even over and look to the morning. He watched again for the different angles available. It was has still has decision of if you have the angle, because what takes again, as chef, you bring an up here. The really English are using it. It's just backing up the dodgy decisions the referees or we've looked at or the referee said that and the Var decisions back time up. There's always is. It can been a few three like what just wants to see something again? I don't see any right without what I kind of sign at all. In the Independent League like is us, no one can a can't get the other. You mean if the rest of the decision Farre gone revealed, as they're more likely got to rest, and then if that is exact same along, then the fire of doing decision to referee would actually go to stay. Was Valid. There's no one like said. No, I got that wrong, but you know it's, you know, Fars over room the referee. Yeah, if ay just S, I didn't you see that clear? I'm going to go to here the sea. Yeah, yeah, I didn't even like a celebration. Likes a game, as the referee decision is final. Exactly. Maybe decisions. I mean that's a thank you or not. I really want to speak about other sports. But when the other sports get it, like you know what other sports, the Robbie, things like that, and it takes seconds, you know, keeps suckings for them out to either. How will at the thing on the screen, but I don't know. For some reason. And football it's taken, you know, three or four, five, six, seven angles, you know, yeah, up all manets. But and the fact is sometimes they sold it at the pisions wrong. But I think on board what you're said about, you know, if it was just correctly for certain times, you know, from the referee to just you know if he's made a mistake. Some of these yell look going of out, coming up a look at us all, like you say, you know, actually, I don't know. Have a good angle at that. Let me go and to equip look at the screen and I'll make my decision from there. Yeah, I can get that. I can get on board with that. But the way, as just now, you know, with every offside decision and these lines being drawn across the pitch, and it's still is for me, it's still much good or clear whether a guy, as all said, or on side, even with these lines. Yeah, I just think to myself, as I don't want to see killing the game, but it's making it less enjoyable for me, for it has stopping and check in certain in the stadium waiting to see what I like to celebrate a go. Yeah, exactly, I know. It's just, it's just it is taken the whole sports from the team who actually scored before. Like yeah, take away the atmosphere really after just going to go like they they you see the team celebrating force with the school goal and the world. The team holid each other and theater and then it comes off there like any God. No seem to be viewed by there. You do me any God. And they when the bad decisions gave dead big odds. Look at attack in the handle, hand shake. You know, men, the atmosphere is are taken away from the board. You know the foil. You Look at Marshall for the penalty. Say, if we're against Serbia, was a you know, to get to Scotland Nage of killing them and it didn't feel. I see, you could go and actually celebrate making a shape until you've got the nods for the referee. Yeah, you know, and that was done. Guys, I just I just jumping jump in there. Sorry, just end up and over the life chapter. Say there was a week. Question is popped up from David Gallerher a barry. Who was the best player you ever played against against? Well, you know, obviously probably slightly biased and I but you know one of my heroes going up was was hearing it laughs. And another result I would say have. I mean, but obviously if I played against quite a lot of decent players in my timey even and the US and under twenty one, you know, you still got to play against good opposition. You know what I especially twenty one game like I played against the front the board, played against him and a game against himsels. It was obviously a good player. You know, was watunate enough to play? You know? Well, no, I don't actually play with Claudio Kneaja, but you know I was at the club when he was. There was a US at the time. But I know best player would be hen you know later say I hero Amn Grow Up. So it's not at really get an opportunity of play against them. Yeah, that that would be...

...who man said. Well, if I got to ask who's the best playing against will have to ask you the question. Who's the best player you ever been with, ever played with? What we probably ability wise, I don't actually know. As you, you guys might know, on there's a gap. Had that IMD fielder at done the time, a Guy George and names, actually got we a sauce a jobs in midfielder. He had won those ability. He was a real pop and pop m fielder and personally enough, he was actually close to me to Celtic when he was at Dundee. There was a deal on the table for him to go to Celtic and the year that the reach civil I think I was actually don't not qualified for the Champions League. Was the reason the deal fell through. Yeah, but if he said, I don't know how much you does know about them, but he was a real tap. My shielder, Samons, your bundles are Belladay, Jodan and a national. Yeah, it was the way. All Guy was me and know that that was cut spyer. That was to me. He Kid. Sorry, right, yes, that was kiss by. Right, played with them as well. He was in that done the team as well. But George M duddely, he was a good player. Yeah, I see there, Steph boys put up on the life chat as well. I fear we then belly will head the same way. As for Rus, what do you think yourself on that? Barry well, you know something. He's never had an opportunity, has he? You know, he made his debut. I think it was against heart. I was such a give the game against heart. He came in and they really sort of he was. He was terrific with me. It was fantastic that. You know what, but you know, he's Marde. I don't know really do a three. I think it's probably he's a turn on one hand. Amount of mcss me nice and like any of your footballer, if you're not getting opportunity, all you want to do as a kid, when you're as you want to play. You want to get money. So you know, I think you a cluntact in the summer, UNTI. So it might be that would unfortunately there's move on. However, ass an opportunity that you know, we can say them on along along the contact. I'd love to get, you know, play minutes. You know whether that be us to go out on loan or not. See what you can do. But like that pleasant play or not? Going to want to hang around for till long? Yeah, exactly, so very fun like that. It's te very much for come down to show with. You'll stay delaying this because we're going to have some knave check comes before myself are takes very much of the come run and not people US tonight. You know, it's been a it's been pleasure for me, you know, pleasure, guys, and listen, I want to obviously about thank you. Fall to yourself to press on to mark. I've obviously putting this up on a platform. You know obviously appreciate that the hard work in the time that is for you guys get involved in this as great for us as posters and for fans to be involved into be able to listen at these podcasts. After two questions for you. But if you watched, to know with your from and if you can see steak by and angering ready. So, yeah, I'm from very he's on the life. I'm from them bee and it's sticks, Pare and hanger, which is good. To ask you if you ever seen bendy water, ha ha ha. You know someone? I feel like my head as a bit like West Time I get my head burn. The Bendy water question. That was my cunt question. So you got. Thanks very much for joining this body. If you much, stay on the lane. Will take some questions for life chance. Yeah, what is know what is happening? To stay on guys. Mark you want to give a few details of stuffter I, but just rob Roy for the forum US Donata, but we's going in an a fifty poond amazing gift cap will run a bee competition with the weekend of the Cup game. I will just be a fund up founder programmers. We feel a fortune. No, answer that question, just to expand it live on the stream, when you'll see, if the stupid, you'll see what's happening. Owner, and I've just had an email. Fore, staff boy to pass on a message to Ben is to stay strong, keep his chant up. It's your Dystopi the good sweeties, and just to tell your dad loves you and he's so proudly you be mine. He'll, he'll, Oh God, gas everyone. So that again, it's really said. If you've any questions for for Barry, just aunted live chat and myself, Christ and Mark Wil be the most. So we want there from roback. Now what does? What about the Scottish fair point in a half fan to rest your last game of the season in one thousand nine hundred and eighty six. But that's what that's going back, way, way beyond...

...my tide. No, so I think that's that's a bit too far away for anyone to remember. How Rob so, can to show your age a bit there, I think. I think rabb has quite a few. What if someone about, sir, especially the ones? What about the rest given your gay Kadetti offside when he was in his own half? We can, we can remember games, but we can't remember kind of details like that. You know. So that's got a self. Take funds in the lakes up remember every detail it avery. It just shows you should you people feel about the club with people who bet says I should remember take games as that, but just don't remember a wish, passion, free kick decision to win against him. Well, the last the last game and making it expect ended and glorious for Celtic. So was with aster, as you know that it's effect. That was when we won the game, when it won the league. S Mum and helps lost of done thee that was last game at eighthnd eight exacts. So so that then you've playing on the sectors for five year old. What I had kind of understand about the discaris refteling is that it seems to be the same rests all the time. Refin the said can large as matches to see the beast in Madden Reilly got them do. It's the same referees that this use. Yeah, they could do, because your dad the talk good men to be the top graferies, whether I agree with us to be able, but just putting all this is your top man will put him and charging your top game. He's a work to watch. You. Yeah, I know some, I think see the level of performances from referees and the doesn't seem to be any other percussions. You know, it's some of some of the Games and some of the you don't want to see to and you really like. I don't. I don't want to home non referees, but some of the performs of the things that are mass like you know, be an ibrops a couple of years but it should have set off my relas four times. But exactly if there's no punishment. But you know, I'd afraid to send off these these plays like well us, because of what Rangers will say about our report and because I'd afraid of that. You think are I think these decisions are happening all over Scotland every game. It's just because it's games. You Pe attention is the highlight. It's a showing competence. I must there's not a biased nester yet an extent, because a few something it's ingrained and you you said you're going to be biased to what your team, but team. He's just a genuine confidence to the level river. But it no, I agree. I ID Boone. I don't want to suggest that. You know that after these are pronger Anti Celtic. I just think they'll let the standard standard at our units sho and if you're saying that, you know beat on. Not Speaking Beten he and Dallas. You know that got column there were our best. What does that say about the rest of them? You know, to start for you and exactly. You know, exactly. That's that's why I'm saying like, if that's the best a certain has to offer, what's the other referees like soft there if they're not getting these games? I did CAS for this Paul referee and that's you know. So even if you're here from Tervin Casey says I we're going back to Bo players go to lawn he said. Bought Iron Christy lawns at killy and Dunn's, made a huge difference in the developments and came back much better players. So my thing is like that. If we send out these pairs on loan and they actually come back better players, if that says something about are our coaching style has for I doubt that we have to send them all for them and don't to come better players. Are that don't, cause the playing FAS team football all the time are idea of something a player right. It's not because you think they're going to get better coaching somewhere else. It's that they're, you're senting might to get game time exactly compare of game team at a higher level. Yeah, you know, I agree. That's exactly what the edge bookcase. You know. You know if guys like I A and trusted the time, you know as fair planing with the spotsting squad, Monday a Friday, but they're not not getting anything at the end of it. You know, there's no game time. Whichever it's okay, it's going to hold them back, you know, so to go out and get, you know, the train one days, whether it be called mom at about be the train on a Monday and a Friday, and then play the game at the end of it. That that's what it, ball's all about. There's nothing more like like. I say that. You know, not that I play football for an inst a length of time, but as your playing on Monday a Friday, but there's no sort of end end game to the end the day. There a place football matches. You know that. That's the whole...

...a whole pop us being a footballer, it's the play football matches. If you take football right back to its grass foods, from most of these young ones, you know they didn't. So they didn't suddenly become fourteen or fifteen year old and then go to a football club. They grew up plan either in the street or a down park or at school, where they were used to play and all the time, and that was what got them. That was probably a big reason why a lot of them fell in love with the game to begin with and that's what made them want to pursue a career. It's because they were playing football and then to all of a sudden go into a club and find that you're training a lot and you're running around a lot but you only get a very, very occasional game. If you take that chatted back to ten years of age, down your local park, he sees all his mates playing but he's not allowed to play. Well, it's going to go and find something else to do, isn't he? Yeah, yeah, you at you know what, this is probably probably not a popular opinion, but see these academies now, guys, I don't know what you guys think about them, but I think the whole players, young kids at six year old and a football academy. I just don't see. I don't see how that's a positive find to be honor five kids at seven they being told they're not good enough. Yeah, and that's going to that's going to kill the young tide cans and straightway then. Yeah, exactly. As a skill six and seven, been told that they're going to be the next Messia lasting. Yeah, you know something, guys, I don't even know if I was playing football at that age. I don't even know if I'd started. Body that is plent, but like what I start for times, you know. You know, social media appear and or on social media should and I've paid. You know, San chosen tears. He's been pulled by this club that you know he's not quite good enough to make it as a player. As a young lad, that something year old is told sorry, son, you're not good enough. He's not gonna want to play football again. No, exactly, he's not going. I sell. He's going to find something else to do. But I don't know. You know, I was, I was, I played football in my piles. That was fourteen and fifteen, sixteen year old has picked up by Dundee when I was sixteen year old, and that was all from played football in the piles and playing on a Sunday. You know, you're a lot more relaxed, where as you know, don't get me wrong, you know, and these academies, I'm sure there's good coaches and they're getting pought good things, but there's also a thank got a pressure on them to the other at that age, you know, I don't started get buried. Who's whose parted you back then you said you pay stuff with your friends. was done with a lot, that you had a done your self. That voice and it was a local scoupe and that's the way it used to happen. The scouts would come, come up to the Games and they would sort of maybe not even going watch a specific player, go and watch the game and if there was a player on the celts to thought, a players thought that maybe good monit of them grcy times and if they felt actually, you know what, I think this guy would be good to come and and praying with Doun, the fund, the the whole. That may be, that's the way it wor no passion things. It Times of moved gotten it seems so kind of staying there looking at your staff like you're passing your run in your bars, because I look at all that even between you even get the picture even never look at ure. Don't your hes already sat about to before the evenor something called the data on Averys and I wasn't on how much ground of covered. What your hearty as how many advices? Where your you know your heat marks are. It's, you know, a sports science that that share what are in the model on the game. But you know, I don't know, you know to Tom Round and say a child as not good enough. Of I'm not going to make a young age you know as what as it's the modern day game. But just what on there about at about sports signs and all that kind of side with, like you know it, the big art more signs was tough nuts, and you could say it was. It was tough night on the running diner as well. And and lend the largers waited a fun betwetween then in that Caspay to team. You know what, without no one, without no one, the engineers are are being at itself Pic Park. But again I don't want to Bask Mer lenning, but I think. I think probably the players got off a lot more under lenning and terms maybe the diets. Maybe they've done. Yeah, but yeah, you know, I think I dialo was a SPEC big nor. The results to this beat to beat testical. It known to check him a learning a big nor team, you know, something like I don't know if I flen and was really bigg one. You know. I mean, I don't know if he he was really big on the sports science thing. You look like I say. You may very well of ignored that. I like to say he knee sort of putting. Touched on it earlier. He played pretty much the same players all the time, whether...

...they were performer or not. They know. But you know, there's always Christy was putting any was starting Saturday. I just said dubs, absolutely my. You know what I'm want these big as fund. I love color my Gregor, but I don't think anybody could turn in and see for the good season this year. So it may have been that you should maybe had a respent on the sidelines and give somebody else. It's not competively calibrator. Don't know. Said for him and he's gone on known again to see or probably going to play every game on navy cop came three the season. He's about two weeks before he goes after the open championships and Denis three weeks then, since we're going to play off as qualifiers for the for champions say Stut, no rest for professional for par to be you know what, buzz would probably be a better one than me for us, but I'm stirred up with it. Last season, the season before, it told more minutes than any other player in European football. Call on McGregor. That's crazy, you know, to any other another plan, any European League, Colum McGregor had played more minutes than anybody knows. That's boat of an effect on you. Before that, I think tarn hear. Yeah, something to do with consecutive games or something as well. Fill me. It played more consecutive to games than anybody. But you know, I don't know in terms of you know, Neil, when and but I just have a, have a you know, I guess saw umber of guys, but you know those part with the drink and culture, you know when he came back in and diets and stuff when out the window. But don't know if that's played a part. I not. We don't even know if that's true, but certainly I think maybe the professional standards that that Rodgers had set up the probably slipt down a we but yeah, when they see it, maybe days the window. But I think I want is that was ignored. Can the more last taking can get always more of a national that. Yeah, it was mere advice. Be Address that should be advising. Did that reason just that's is what you're being from. Thought what we done on. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's more my particular funder him certainly went it just attack standards. It people are just stay forgating idea. Who Bring your standards back with joy team? I would probably say they both. Definitely. Honestly, I think you know, you know how the conversation of the Paul yesterday about. You know, there's probably being for it to fifteen managers linked to the club and I think every single one has as a frozen, I wist, a constant and I ay keen and says a small minority would be in say that I'm getting the job. I wouldn't be dead against that, if I'm honest, because I think he does bring a certain you know, standards. You know, I don't think he would accept the level of performances that sell it work or showing the season. And you know, I think in terms of professionalism, I think he may have raised the bar or that. But obviously them that is the fact that it might be about old steel manager, you know, the streaming in the face tapeing which just thought know we were. Don't know who the managers going to be, but you know, whoever as you'll get the back in the support. There's not about that exactually, now we're going to call the short of a hunt again tags. By much for come down and for myself, I really preciate this mark. Let's see over to you, says. Yeah, well, burry, as far as I'm concerned, you know, it's just fantastic. You know, listen, I lit and I could have died and went to heaven, you know, soon as I asked, as soon as you answered my questions there. But I have to say, Barry, you know, what is refreshing is the fact that you're so contempt and so comfortable with talking about your career. And there's no doubt your know, the fact that you did play at the pro level shows that you do have a level of insight that most fans don't actually have. You know, most fans want to just bounce things off each other and say, you know, UN criticize people and whatever, but you have the most wonderful level headed inside into the game and I think you've made our evening show all the better for it. So it absolutely a massive thank you for me, Burry, and I hope you'll not be a stranger or hope you'll be on again sometime soon. All all of Sud guys really appreciate that.
